Centerplex Installs Dolby Atmos on Ten Screens

Centerplex Cinemas, one of the largest motion picture exhibitors in Brazil, has announced that it plans to deliver Dolby Atmos immersive audio to 10 screens throughout Brazil. In addition, Centerplex will deploy several Dolby IMS3000 integrated media servers, Dolby multichannel amplifiers and SLS 3-Axis Speakers across its circuit, becoming the first exhibitor in Brazil to install the latest Dolby technology. Plans call for the installation to be completed by the end of 2018.

Cinema West Opens All Dolby Complex

Cinema West Veranda Luxe Cinema is the first cinema complex to fully integrate all Dolby technologies for an immersive Dolby Atmos audio experience across a total of nine screens. Located in Concord, California, the complex has a grand opening scheduled for December.

Regal to Offer Moviebill in 2018

As the digital cinema era enters a new phase, exhibitors are increasingly looking at better ways to directly engage with their customers. Regal Cinema, long an industry leader, seems to have found a particularly interesting one. Concourse Media principals James Andrew Felts and Matthew Shreder announced today a deal with Regal Entertainment Group to distribute Moviebill, an interactive new product that has been crafted to enhance and extend the 21st century movie going experience. The inaugural edition will be announced later this year for a 2018 launch.

Shaking Up Event Cinema

El Rey Network’s lucha libre wrestling series Lucha Underground will be the first U.S. television series to screen in the immersive CJ 4DPlex 4DX seating format. Ultima Lucha Tres – Part IV, the season three finale, will screen at a private event for media and fans in the 4DX auditorium at the Regal L.A. Live Stadium 14 October 17.

Cineplex is Raising a Rukus

Cineplex has installed ten D-Box immersive virtual reality motion seats and systems in its Scotiabank Theatre in Ottawa, Canada. Construction is expected to begin shortly, with plans to open this fall with the Canadian premiere of a first-of-its-kind animated VR motion experience. Created and produced by The Virtual Reality Company, Raising a Rukus takes viewers on a series of magical adventures with a brother, sister and their mischievous pet dog named Rukus.
