AlphaDogs has completed work on the new WWII short film Krieg. Directed and produced by Jeff Fry, Krieg follows the journey of a Waffen-SS officer who chooses to do the right thing while serving on the wrong side of a world at war. His remorse for inaction in the face of murder compels him to risk all in order to protect a wounded enemy airman.
Making a film for the first time is a challenge enough in itself, but post-production can sometimes be even more daunting. Aspiring filmmaker Michael Thibault said, “Strangely, all the things we were warned about – actors, scheduling, permits, etc – weren’t a problem at all. But when it came to post-production, it was a complete nightmare until we brought the show to AlphaDogs. We tried to get by cheap and skip using a professional post house, only to find out these freelance colorists and audio mixers have no clue as to what they are doing.”
Hare Krishna! The Mantra, The Movement and the Swami Who Started It All is a documentary film on the life of Srila Prabhupada—the 70-year-old Indian Swami who arrived in America without support or money in the turbulent 1960s and ignited a worldwide spiritual phenomenon with only his unflinching determination and faith. The film posted at AlphaDogs in Burbank. As with most historical documentaries, the biggest hurdle the team had to overcome were the technical challenges inherent in working with multiple source formats.
AlphaDogs has completed post-production services on Sony’s new superhero comedy, Cross Wars, a high-spirited and dynamic action comedy in the vein of Deadpool and The Cannonball Run. The story features lots of celebrities (Danny Trejo, Tom Sizemore, Brian Austin Green, Vinnie Jones and more), as well as newcomers having fun battling the streets of Los Angeles, with hot girls, sexy guns and witty banter.
Created by Schuyler Helford a Los Angeles-based producer, writer and comedic actress (Anger Management, The Middle), the new web series Indoorsy is an original comedy about three agoraphobics who decide to move in together and open a day spa inside their apartment, appropriately called spa-partment. “I have learned that that color-correction is such a crucial part of setting the tone for the story, especially in comedy,” said Helford.
While non-traditional gender roles are becoming more widely accepted, stereotypes still have a tendency to get in the way. This is particularly true for a Latina woman who is a teacher by trade, but wanted to blaze her own trail as the first female surfer in a tiny rural fishing village. Filmed on location in Baja, Mexico, La Maestra is a unique surfing movie told in the words of teacher/surfer, Mayra Agulair, which brings to light the issues facing female surfers, as well as the importance of taking care of the environment that we use for recreation and sports.
Preparation for post-production deliverables is often an overwhelming and tedious experience and producer/director Zatella Beatty’s feature length documentary about basketball star Allen Iverson’s rise to fame in the sports world was certainly no exception. Meeting Showtime’s tight deadline on delivery of Iverson wasn’t going to be easy.
AlphaDogs is pleased to announce they have completed work on the new film Revision, where a petty thief seeks to atone for his past by returning to the house he robbed. It was director Zac Wong’s vision to not only tell a good story but also explore how a film could portray the overlap of human consciousness and memory. Wong explains, “I was fascinated by the way that we tend to experience several disconnected events in our past simultaneously. I found the feeling of guilt to be the most palpable manifestation of chaotic memory and a great subject for this film.”
Those who serve our country do so by choice and with courage and honor. When wounded servicemen and women are forced to return home long before they are ready, many end up feeling like they no longer serve a purpose and struggle with day-to-day living. When Marine Corporal Kionte Storey lost his leg and suffered other injuries during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, he made a conscious choice upon his return home that he would not only overcome his injuries, but also help and inspire other soldiers to overcome theirs as well.
