MBO Cinemas to Purchase 100 Dolby IMBs

MBO Cinemas, Malaysia, has committed to purchase 100 Dolby ShowVault/Integrated Media Blocks as well as 75 units of the Dolby Digital Cinema Processor CP750 and 25 units of the Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850 to deploy in all of its new cinema screens in Malaysia through June 1, 2018.

CinemaNext Signs Agreement with Empire Cinemas

CinemaNext has signed an agreement with Empire Cinemas, the UK’s leading independently owned cinema chain, to oversee projection and audio installations, field services and technical customer support. The agreement covers Empire’s entire network of 14 locations across Great Britain, representing a total of 127 screens, including two IMAX Cinemas.

NCM Creates Affiliate Partnerships Team

National CineMedia has created a new Affiliate Partnerships team dedicated to serving the needs of its more than 40 movie theater affiliates nationwide. Veteran NCM executive Stacie Tursi has been tapped to lead the team in the new role of senior vice president of Affiliate Partnerships, based in the company’s Centennial, Colorado headquarters. Tursi will report directly to NCM president Cliff Marks, who will be taking a more active role working with NCM’s affiliate partners going forward.

ECA Launches Global Initiative

The Event Cinema Association has launched a new initiative with its members to help raise the profile of the Event Cinema industry worldwide. The newly-formed ECA Advisory Committee includes nine members and four ECA staff members from the exhibition, distribution, public relations, marketing, cinema services and satellite transmission industries and aims to address some of the key issues that face this growth market in order for the sector to continue to flourish.
