EPO Upholds One of RealD’s Patents in Volfoni Fight

RealD announced today that the European Patent Office’s Opposition Division has upheld the validity of one of the company’s key patents for light-doubling 3D cinema projection systems. Volfoni and MasterImage had both challenged the EPO’s grant of RealD’s European patent, which covers optical architectures in light-doubling 3D cinema systems.

CinemaNext, Ezcaray International Expand Seating Distribution Agreement

CinemaNext has signed a distribution deal with Spanish seating supplier Ezcaray International recognizing CinemaNext as an official distributor in 17 European countries as well as in the US, Russia, Egypt, Kazakhstan and Morocco. CinemaNext is currently the exclusive reseller of Ezcaray’s full range of seating products for cinema in Germany.

B&B Theatre Signs with Dealflicks for Ticket Sales

B&B Theatres, the seventh largest U.S. movie theatre chain, and Dealflicks have successfully launched a mix of full-priced tickets and deals across B&B’s 391 screens and 49 theatres. While online ticketing for all films and show times will be available, a varied amount of ticket and concession deals will be available for movies on certain days.

With the help of the finance team working for the Dubai-based Pride Group, London was selected as an ideal location for the new media exchange due to its favorable geographical location as well as its long history of hosting successful international exchanges.

MoviePass Partners with iHeartMedia

MoviePass has signed a media partnership with iHeartMedia, a leading U.S. multi-media company. The new agreement includes an extensive marketing campaign across iHeartMedia’s multiplatform network including radio, digital, social and live events to help build further brand awareness of MoviePass and target new subscribers in select U.S. metro markets that have active movie-going audiences. In addition, iHeartMedia will be an authorized reseller of ad inventory across the MoviePass website and mobile app.
