Cinépolis Upgrading 2,600 Screens to Laser
Cinépolis, Mexico’s largest cinema company, has announced an initiative to upgrade more than 2,600 screens to laser projection. The deal brings Laser Projection by Cinionic to a significant portion of the global chain’s nearly 6,700 screens, delivering efficiency and up to 70 percent energy savings for Cinepolis and an elevated viewing experience for their audiences.
Wanda Cinemas to Install Nine Imax Screens
Wanda Film, China's largest exhibitor, today announced a nine-theatre deal with Imax spanning key Chinese markets. Under the agreement, six new Imax systems will be installed in newly built multiplexes across top Chinese markets. Additionally, Wanda will relocate and upgrade three of its existing Imax systems to forthcoming new multiplexes.
Qube Wire Introduces Virtual WireTAP
Qube Wire has introduced the Virtual WireTAP, a software system that can be installed on a cinema’s existing hardware to connect the theatre to Qube Wire’s global cloud delivery platform directly. With it, the company says, cinemas can leverage their existing infrastructure to connect to Qube Wire.

AMC Theatres has reached its first-ever agreement with Netflix to play a Netflix movie theatrically. From November 23-29, AMC moviegoers can enjoy Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery at more than 200 locations throughout the United States. It will also play at select Odeon Cinema Group’s locations in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, and Spain.
