Completing The Dark Place

The Dark Place tells the story of Keegan Dark, who has the uncanny ability to remember his life in videographic detail. Both a blessing and a curse, Dark uncovers a conspiracy that frames him for murder, threatens his inheritance, and endangers his family’s lives and livelihood. When director Jody Wheeler began shopping for a post-house to complete his feature film The Dark Place, he chose AlphaDogs because he had been told of their excellent reputation in working with independent filmmakers.

Cinedigm Acquires Nacho Vigalondo’s Open Windows

Cinedigm has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Open Windows, directed by Nacho Vigalondo (Time Crimes, ABC’s of Death) and starring Elijah Wood (Maniac, Lord of the Rings, Cooties, Grand Piano, The Hobbit) and Sasha Grey (Would You Rather, The Girlfriend Experience, I Melt with You). The film had its world premiere earlier this month at SXSW. Cinedigm plans a theatrical release in late summer or early fall.

LipSync Provides Equity Investment, Full Post Services on Starred Up

LipSync provided equity investment and full post services on Starred Up, the award-winning film starring Jack O’Connell, Ben Mendelsohn and Rupert Friend, telling the story of a troubled and violent teen who meets his father in prison. The film, produced by Sigma Films, will open in the UK on March 21.

Tabloid Truth in North American Theatres March 7

South Korea’s Tabloid Truth from director Kim Kwang-sik is coming to North American theatres on March 7. A scandalous rumor about up-and-coming actress Mi Jin is included as a gossip item in a stock market tipsheet and propagated by the tabloids, causing her to take her own life. Woo Gon (Kim Kang-woo), the actress’s long-time devoted manager who dedicated everything to building her career, initiates a vengeful investigation to expose the sources of the malicious rumor. With unexpected assistance from a tabloid distributor Mr. Park (Jeong Jin-yeong) and a legendary wiretapper Baek Moon (Ko Chang-seok), Woo unravels the opaque and lucrative world of secret tips and salacious rumors.

Hula Post’s Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Hula Post Production provided editorial systems, facilities and support to editor Melissa Kent and her crew during the production of the indie film Louder Than Words, the new dramatic feature from Identity Films. Hula set up and maintained a remote editorial facility in Connecticut, where the film spent five weeks shooting, and later provided editorial facilities at its Tribeca West location in West Los Angeles.
