MasterImage 3D has successfully challenged RealD’s Chinese utility model patent by filing an appeal before the Chinese Patent Re-examination Board. The Chinese PRB agreed with MasterImage 3D’s claim that RealD’s patent lacked inventiveness and failed to meet the requirements for patent protection. As a result, MasterImage 3D will continue to sell its Horizon3D product line in China.

Barco has announced the inauguration of the world’s largest single 6P laser theater, the Barco Laser Theater, built by the Eying Group in Chengdu, China. Located on the Eying 1958 Cinema’s landscape-style campus, the first of its kind in China, the largest-screen theater is lit by Barco’s new DP4K-60L, single projector 6P laser 3D system and is named after Barco.
Quantum today announced that China's National Animation Industry Park in Tianjin, the country's largest animation center, is using Quantum StorNext shared storage as the foundation for its 4K post-production workflows.
