Christie has reached a worldwide reseller agreement to offer Arts Alliance Media’s full range of integrated theater management software and services to its wide-reaching exhibitor base, and further strengthen Christie’s position as the pre-eminent cinema solutions and expertise provider. The agreement excludes Japan.

Cineworld Group – the world’s second largest cinema exhibitor – has signed an agreement to acquire more than 1,000 Christie RGB pure laser cinema projectors. Cineworld has nearly 9,500 screens across 10 territories and will take delivery of the projectors beginning this summer.
Odeon Cinemas Group is adding new Dolby Cinema auditoriums at two locations: Odeon Manchester Trafford Centre and Odeon Luxe Birmingham Broadway Plaza.
Samsung has announced four new locations to be opened in Europe, two in Spain, one in Ireland and one in Romania. Two screens will be installed at Odeon Multicines in Spain. The company’s Plaza de Armas, Seville location will be the first to open in September with a 10-meter screen, followed by the CC San Vicente, Alicante location with an Onyx 14 meter, opening by October. This will be the first 14 meter screen installed in Europe. Both installations will be completed by Ingevideo and Equipo de Cine.
Beginning today, movie fans nationwide can get ready for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 with all new games from Shuffle, Noovie’s movie trivia mobile game from National CineMedia. This marks the first studio collaboration for Noovie Shuffle. The new Shuffle original trivia games are based on the entire Pixar feature film universe and are part of the marketing campaign for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4, which opens in U.S. theaters on June 21.
ScreenX, the panoramic format from CJ 4DPlex, has grossed $22 million in the worldwide box office in five months, surpassing its own box office record from the same time last year. This marks a 85 percent surge in box office gross and the fastest record-breaking milestone in the history of the innovative format. Spider-Man Far From Home is scheduled to release in ScreenX on July 5th.
Colombian chain Cinemas Procinal has just opened a new seven-screen multiplex in the city of Barranquilla, featuring Christie Vive Audio and Christie digital cinema projection throughout. Cinema Equipment & Supplies carried out the installation.

To this day the choices I made and the blind faith I had in the system surprise me. I like to think it all started innocently enough, the concept of free unlimited movies at any theatre. No limits? No loopholes? No extra fees? It was intoxicating, to say the least, and I fell for it all hook, line, and sinker. And for a while there, it was a truly beautiful affair.
