Christie is celebrating its 500th Christie Vive Audio cinema sound system installation with Cinemex Mundo E, Mexico City, Mexico. Featuring 19 auditoriums, Cinemex Mundo E is the 30th installation of both Christie Vive Audio and Dolby Atmos under their CinemeXtremo PLF brand. Additionally, this auditorium hosts the first Christie RGB laser projection installation in Mexico.
The Event Cinema Association has announced the winners of the 4th ECA Awards, which took place last week at the QEII Centre in London. The ceremonies were sponsored by Encompass Digital Media and featured sales director Nigel Crow on stage with One Show presenter Nick Wallis. ECA managing director said, “The event was a great success and the quality of the nominees reminds the wider media industry and ourselves just how far the sector has progressed in a decade.”
Last week La La Land was released in EclairColor in the following German cinemas: Nuremberg’s Cinecitta’ Multiplexkino and Eiszeit-Kino in Berlin. Distributed in Germany by StudioCanal and directed by Damien Chazelle, the film stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers today released details about the 2017 NAB Show's Future of Cinema Conference: The Intersection of Technology, Art, & Commerce in Cinema, produced in partnership with SMPTE. Scheduled for April 22-23 during the 2017 NAB Show, the conference will feature two full days of expert presentations delving into how technical innovation, artistic intent, and evolving consumption and business models will interact to shape the future of cinema.
Event cinema has come a long way since its earliest days more than a decade ago. The challenge now is to push the boundaries of event cinema to find new content, new concepts that can attract and sustain even larger audiences. To that end, the Event Cinema Association’s annual day-long ECA Conference & Awards session will be held in London this Friday February 3 at the QE11 Centre in central London, near Parliament Square in Westminster. The conference, now in its fourth year is the only event of its kind in the world.
