Strike Media has appointed Melissa Cogavin to the new position of consultant. Her role will be to grow the footprint and profile of Strike Media and advise on event cinema campaigns. Cogavin will also work closely on the expansion and growth of the social film app MyFilmClub for Wez Merchant, owner of both Strike Media and Under The Influence Of, MyFilmClub’s parent company.

George Eyles has been named chief executive officer of theatrical distribution software company Maccs. He will be responsible for the company’s operations in more than 50 countries. Maccs is a Vista Group company.
Screenvision Media has signed a definitive agreement for Abry Partners, a media-focused private equity firm, to acquire a controlling stake in the company. As part of the agreement, the company’s existing owners, Shamrock Capital and AMC Entertainment, will maintain minority stakes. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The Harkness Screens Clarus XC will be the screen of choice for 2D and 3D theatrical presentations during Cine Europe 2018. The show’s auditorium inside the CCIB will feature a 26.35-meter by 7.5-meter Clarus XC 170 screen used to showcase both 2D and 3D content from distributors.
Samsung has selected footage captured with Arri Alexa cameras to showcase their Onyx 4K cinema LED displays. By using an array of modular LED panels to replace cinema projectors, the Samsung Cinema LED displays offer a completely new format of a cinema screen to enhance movie experiences. The technology displays Ultra Contrast with true blacks, high dynamic range and P3 color with supreme accuracy.
European 3D company Volfoni has filed a counterclaim to the intellectual property lawsuit filed by RealD in Germany. Volfoni further announced the retention of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP, one of the leading intellectual property law firms in the world, to represent Volfoni in intellectual property related legal proceedings.
