Wanda Pictures and Dolby Laboratories today announced that Wanda Pictures’ feature For A Few Bullets will be released for Dolby Cinema locations in China on July 15, making it the first Chinese local language movie mastered in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
For the third year running, Dolby has equipped the CCIB auditorium at CineEurope with Dolby Atmos. Attendees will experience exclusive screenings in Dolby Atmos of The Secret Life of Pets from Universal and The BFG from Amblin Entertainment. In addition, footage presented by Warner Bros. Pictures International, Twentieth Century Fox, and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International will also be taking place in Dolby Atmos during the show as part of the studio presentations.
Christie will showcase its full range of products at CinemaCon 2016 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, April 11-14. The company’s Booth – 2303A – will feature various Christie products and video case studies. In addition, Christie laser projection will be used for select Colosseum events, there will be Christie digital signage in the Coke lounge and registration area, and product launch demonstrations in private meeting rooms.
Barco will highlight CinemaBarco at CinemaCon 2016, April 11-14 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. CinemaBarco includes Barco Laser Projection, Barco Escape, AuroMax and Barco Lobby Experience. Recent independent and exhibitor surveys indicate that moviegoers give the highest image quality scores to laser-illuminated screens. They also state that this premium experience would entice them to visit the cinema more frequently and that patrons are willing to pay a higher ticket price for the laser-projected movie, resulting in significantly higher revenues for exhibitors.
Since last August the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York – in addition to being one of the country’s premiere art house cinemas – has been a construction site. Work began then to add two new screens and other amenities to the complex, bringing the total number of screens to five. When completed next month those new theatres will greatly expand the center’s already impressive capabilities.
Construction has begun to add two new theatres to the Jacob Burns Film Center. The new theatres, which will be on the third floor of the cinema complex, will provide JBFC with 80 additional seats. The construction is contained within the existing footprint of the building and should be completed by January 2015. The JBFC Theatre will remain open during construction.
Christie Solaria Series projectors and Christie Vive Audio cinema systems have been installed in a newly opened cineplex located in New Farm, a trendy inner-city suburb of Brisbane. Known as New Farm Cinemas, the complex houses six auditoriums that are color-themed with each theater catered for different purposes and clientele.
Southern Theatres has completed its second all Christie entertainment complex, at the new Southern Theatres Movie Tavern 8 in Covington, Louisiana. The eight-screen cinema eatery has Christie Solaria Series projectors and Christie Vive Audio cinema systems.
The new Ham Yard Hotel is the eighth London property in the Firmdale Hotels group. It opened in June. Like three other Firmdale Hotels in London and one in New York, it features a 188-seat art theater designed and equipped to the highest professional standards. CJ 4DPlex, which calls itself the world’s first 4D cinema company for feature films, will demonstrate the next generation of its 4DX technology at CinemaCon 2014 March 24-27 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. The company will also announce new deals that it says will bring its global expansion to its 100th theatre.
