Nice Shoes provided color grading and editorial finishing services for Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey, Netflix’s four-part documentary series about the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and its self-proclaimed prophet, Warren Jeffs. Directed by Rachel Dretzin and produced and co-directed by Grace McNally, the series explores, in shocking detail, the FLDS’s decades of practicing polygamy, forced underage marriage and pregnancy, and the events that led to Jeffs’ 2011 life sentence.
The FX original series The Old Man stars Jeff Bridges as the eponymous lead, former CIA operative Dan Chase, whose off-the-grid existence is rudely interrupted when an intruder breaks into his home. The confrontation sets off an epic game of cat and mouse, forcing Chase to go on the run as multiple parties seek to either bring him in or take him down. Sean Porter served as lead cinematographer for the series’ first season and shot four of the seven episodes, with Jules O’Loughlin, ACS, ASC and Armando Salas, ASC handling the remainder.
FilmLight has completed the selection of judges for the 2022 Color Awards, which recognize the finest work from colorists around the world, who are using any technology platform and working in any genre. The awards deadline has been extended, and submissions will now close to the global colorist community on August 7.
MTI Film has added dailies colorist Arthur Oganesyan to its team of post-production artists. Oganesyan brings experience in streaming and broadcast series through stints at Encore, Hollywood, and Company 3. In his first project for MTI, he is grading dailies for the new season of American Horror Story for Ryan Murphy Productions and FX Network.
Arsenal FX Color, the Santa Monica-based, full-service post-production facility, has opened a satellite location in New Mexico. Located in Albuquerque, the site offers dailies, color grading, and finishing to television and film productions shooting in the state. In its first project, the Albuquerque facility provided dailies, color and finishing services for Unbroken, a pilot produced by Universal Television and starring Scott Bakula.
ArsenalFX Color has announced that Joshua Baca, a co-founder, and partner in the company, is moving into a new role as chief technology officer. A 20-year industry pro, Baca has served ArsenalFX as a finishing editor and technologist since its founding in 2012.
