Fourth Long Beach International Film Festival Begins September 24

The Long Beach International Film Festival will be celebrating its fourth anniversary as they bring a fresh line up of exciting films from around the world to Long Island. Taking place September 24-27th primarily in the City of Long Beach, New York the event will once again branch off into Rockville Centre as well. There are also three new screening venues to expand its film programming, along with filmmaker’s lounges and after parties at local restaurants and hotels. The September 24 opening night at Madison Theatre at Molloy College features Lamotta: The Bronx Bull, a feature film from director Martin Guigui starring William Forsythe, Paul Sorvino, Joe Mantegna and Tom Sizemore exploring the tumultuous life of boxer Jake LaMotta.

Three LipSync Post Projects Featured at TIFF

Three of LipSync Post’s film projects will be featured at the 40th anniversary Toronto International Film Festival 2015. LipSync provided post-production services as well as equity investment services for London Road, London Fields and Kajaki. The strong showing at TIFF follows the success of seeing nine LipSync film projects at the London Film Festival last year.

Finalists Named for $50,000 Louisiana Film Prize

Executive director Gregory Kallenberg has announced the 20 finalists for the fourth annual Louisiana Film Prize. Each of the Top 20 films will compete at Louisiana Film Prize Festival Weekend October 2-4 in Shreveport, Louisiana. The winner will take home $50,000, one of the world's largest cash prizes for a short film.

SMPTE and HPA Issue Call for Entries for SMPTE-HPA Student Film Festival

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and the Hollywood Post Alliance have issued a call for entries for the SMPTE-HPA Student Film Festival. The event is scheduled for October 27 following the Opening Night Reception for the SMPTE 2015 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition in Hollywood, California, and will be hosted by SMPTE Standards Director and film director Howard Lukk. The deadline for entries is September 9.

AFI Docs Names Audience Award Winners

The AFI Docs five-day festival wrapped up this week in the Washington, DC area. This year's Audience Award for Best Feature went to What Happened, Miss Simone? directed by Liz Garbus. This year's Audience Award for Best Short went to A Conversation with My Black Son directed by Blair Foster and Geeta Gandbhir. With 81 films from 25 countries, the festival brought together artists, national policy and opinion leaders along with global representatives.
