Periscope Upgrades Hollywood Facility

When Chicago-based Periscope Post & Audio launched its Hollywood facility last year, it was targeting Southern California’s boom in film and television production. But the building that houses Periscope, previously occupied by another full service post house, needed a serious upgrade. Enter sound studio specialist Kaiser Comm Construction. Today the 22,000-square-foot facility offers complete sound and picture finishing resources tailored to meet today’s highest standards, especially among streaming services like Netflix and Amazon, which often require shows delivered in high dynamic range with immersive Dolby Atmos soundtracks.

STMPD World’s Newest Dolby Atmos Premier Studio

STMPD Recording Studios in Amsterdam recently completed an extensive three-year renovation, bringing its total number of studios to eight, including a 135 square-meter Dolby Atmos Premier Studio. With just nine Dolby Atmos Premier studios in the world, and only two others in Europe, STMPD recording studios joins a very exclusive club.

Nugen Audio Releases New Version of Halo Downmix

Nugen Audio has released the latest version of its Halo Downmix, which now increases the compatibility of the software allowing for greater flexibility and collaboration across a broad spectrum of project types. Nugen has also broadened the plug-in’s channel count support to address less common output formats. With this update, Halo Downmix is capable of downmixing from 7.1 and 5.1 to any of the following configurations: 7.0, 6.1, 6.0, 5.1, 5.0 and 4.0, as well as LCR and stereo. With the optional 3D extension, downmixing from 7.1.2 is also supported.

Nugen Launches Staying Home, Staying Creative Initiative

In response to the rapidly changing needs of the industry, Nugen Audio has launched a digital initiative to support the audio and production community through the COVID pandemic. Delta Soundworks: Beyond Cinema

Ana Monte, lead sound designer and Daniel Deboy, lead sound engineer founded Delta Soundworks in Heidelberg, Germany in 2016. The company is a 3D/immersive audio post-production facility with projects that span across installations, virtual reality, 360-degree films and gaming, as well as feature films, documentaries, TV shows and commercials. Their team consists of a highly skilled and creative group of production sound mixers, recording engineers, sound designers, Foley artists, composers and music producers. Digital Cinema Report recently spoke with Monte and Deboy about their business and some very interesting projects.

Rock Documentary to Open Tribeca Film Festival

Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President, the new feature documentary from Grammy Award-winning director Mary Wharton, producer Chris Farrell and writer Bill Flanagan, will make its world premiere April 15 as it opens the 19th Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The rockumentary-flavored film, which went through post-production finishing at Sim Post New York, centers on the 39th president’s life-long passion for music and rock’s contribution to his unlikely journey from a peanut farm in Georgia to the White House.
