Cinesystem Cinemas in Morumbi Town, Brazil, is upgrading its entire theatre to Barco laser projection. Cinesystem Cinemas is one of the largest movie theater companies in Brazil and has always aimed to bring innovative technology to the most diverse places in the country. Today with 142 movie theaters throughout the country, the company is preparing its biggest project: inaugurate the most modern movie theater in Latin America, in São Paulo.

Palace Cinemas, Australia, has signed a three-year agreement to purchase 70 Christie Digital Cinema projectors in a move to further expand its cinema operations across the country. The projectors will be fitted and serviced by Hoyts Cinema Technology Group, who will be responsible for procurement of equipment (projection, audio solutions and screens), installation, service and support. Palace Cinemas plans to more than double its number of screens over the next 24 months in a rapid expansion of its cinema footprint in Australia
Schulman Theatres is installing GDC Technology’s SX-4000 Standalone IMB and XSP-1000 Cinema Processor in its newest venue, the Schulman Film Alley in Weatherford, Texas. The new Schulman Film Alley is scheduled to open to the public on October 28. Schulman Theatres partnered with Sonic Equipment Company for the system integration.
GDC Technology has completed the full range of tests necessary to receive compliance from the Digital Cinema Initiative for its SX-4000 Standalone integrated media block. "We are committed to investing in technology and evolving our company to meet the needs of exhibitors worldwide,” said Man-Nang Chong, founder, chairman and CEO of GDC Technology Limited. “Achieving DCI compliance for our next generation SX-4000 IMB is another step forward toward achieving our goal of ensuring cinemas are equipped with future proof products.”
The Orchard has acquired rights to Hunter Gatherer, the debut film from filmmaker Josh Locy. Rough House Pictures will release the film in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on November 16 with a theatrical rollout to follow. The Orchard will release the film via digital platforms in early 2017.
Burbank-based AlphaDogs recently completed the post on writer, director, producer Robert McGinley’s new cyberpunk musical thriller Danger Diva. AlphaDog’s lead colorist and founder Terence Curren created the look for the film, which was shot entirely in 5K.
Rodeo FX completed nearly 200 visual effects shots for The Legend of Tarzan, including action sequences with CG hippos and crocodiles, where realistic water interaction was critical for the success of the shots. The studio’s VFX work helped lift these animal sequences to a level where they look like scenes from a nature documentary. Along with butterflies and leaf cutter ants, Rodeo FX created a pod of hippos, including one ‘hero’ hippo that attacks Jane, as well as a bask of crocodiles seen in the final sequence of the movie.
A second feature film, Brice 3, has been re-mastered with Ymagis Group’s EclairColor digital color technology. The James Huth film starring Jean Dujardin, Clovis Cornillac and Bruno Salomone will be released in France on Wednesday and shown exclusively in EclairColor at the Gaumont Marignan cinema on the Champs-Elysées. The CinemaNext France teams have equipped one of the largest auditoriums at the Gaumont Marignan with EclairColor technology.
