Nightmare on Elm Street in a New Light

The original 1984 Warner Bros. horror classic Nightmare on Elm Street will screen in Los Angeles this Halloween weekend with a new twist: the film will be screened with immersive visual effects from Phillip's new cinema experience, LightVibes. The film is being shown at L.A.’s Downtown Independent Theatre tonight at eight p.m. and October 30-31 at seven p.m.

Screenvision Media Bolsters Ad Network

The goal is to increase value for advertisers before and after the movies. Screenvision Media’s lobby network, now includes more than 2,300 theatres, ands provides exhibitors with a host of integrated ways to deliver ultimate brand impact to consumers, including retargeting, special events and sampling.

Horror Specialists Launch $50 Million Fund

Indie Crowd Funder, in conjunction with Daniel Myrick (DGA/WGA) director, writer, producer (The Blair Witch Project), Shintaro Shimosawa, (DGA) director, writer, producer (The Grudge, The Grudge 2), Randy Greenberg, executive producer (Cowboys & Aliens, Meg), producer Autumn Bailey-Ford (PGA), have announced the launch of a new film, television, new media and virtual reality fund.

South Lake Audio Opens in Burbank

South Lake Audio Services, a union-signatory sound company offering mixing and ADR services for motion pictures and television, has launched in Burbank. Veteran sound executive Paul Rodriguez will serve as president with four-time Emmy-nominated re-recording mixer Keith Rogers heading the creative team. South Lake will operate out of the facilities of post-production powerhouse Roundabout Entertainment where it will have three mix stages and multiple ADR recording studios, with plans to add four more mix stages next year.

New Life for Postpartum

Richard Bakewell, best known for his camerawork on such television shows as Cops and Intervention, recently penned his second film. To create a proof-of-concept and short film based on an ‘80s throwback horror-genre feature-length screenplay Postpartum, he took the helm as director and executive producer.

RoboDoc Examines Classic Movie

A fan-funded documentary, which examines the legacy of one of Hollywood’s best-loved action movie franchises is being made by a University of Northampton, United Kingdom, graduate. Filmmaker Christopher Griffiths, who graduated from the Media Production degree course in 2013, raised £34,000 on the Kickstarter funding platform to make RoboDoc, which explores the making and legacy of the RoboCop franchise.

Alamo Opens House of Wax

With the opening of Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Brooklyn October 28, also comes the opening of Brooklyn’s newest, most curious full service bar: House of Wax. While the stand-alone bar is housed in the Alamo Drafthouse cinema, and will be without a doubt the best spot for movie pre-gaming and post-mortems, House of Wax is a destination and experience all its own. Combining mixology, music and the macabre, House of Wax takes its name from two sources of inspiration close to the Alamo Drafthouse’s heart: Vincent Price’s 1950s 3D thriller and the brand’s vinyl record labels, Mondo and Death Waltz Records.

Cinépolis Adds 4DX to 12 Additional Sites

Cinépolis will install the 4DX immersive cinema experience in at least 12 additional auditoriums in the United States, India, Spain and across Latin America by the end of 2017. Five of these confirmed new sites will open in the U.S., Mexico, Spain and Chile by 2016. The two screens opening in the United States will be located in Carlsbad, north of San Diego, and Pico Rivera in Los Angeles, California.
