Tarde Para La Ira Named Best Film

The thriller Fury of a Patient Man (Tarde Para La Ira) won a plethora of awards at Spain’s Goya Awards, including the award for Best Film. The film, directed by newcomer Raul Arevalo and starring Antonio de la Torre, Luis Callejo, Ruth Diaz and Raul Jimenez, was finished at Madrid post-production facility Free Your Mind, which carried out the conforming, color grading and finishing using an SGO Mistika.

Cognition Completes VR Post for Underwater

Cognition recently completed post on Underwater, a new 360 video created by Soma Fashion Network for the HTC Vive virtual reality system. The facility’s engineering team designed a custom workflow that allowed senior colorist Mike Eaves to grade the video in real time and view the results in 360-space. The groundbreaking process paves the way for other VR projects and keeps Cognition at the forefront of the new medium.

A new campaign launches the branding partnership between global sports brand Puma and the Red Bull Racing Formula One Team in preparation for the upcoming Formula One 2016 Season. The concept required a herd of stampeding bulls to charge around the two Red Bull Racing drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat. They turned to effects artist David Cox.

Celebrating Firsts with Baba Joon

Baba Joon means papa as a term of endearment expressing respect for the father of the family in a traditional Iranian home. A movie named Baba Joon was selected as best film at the most recent Ofir Awards, the Israeli version of the Academy Awards. The film portrays the human struggle many face when having to choose between tradition and personal freedom, dealing with the challenges that the generational gap can cause. Baba Joon is the feature-length directorial debut of screenwriter director Yuval Delshad, an Israeli and himself, the son of Iranian immigrants. Shot with a Red Epic, Baba Joon was also the first feature completed on Tel Aviv-based Edit Studio's Mistika.

Spectrum, Mistika and Deadline Gallipoli

Established Australian post house Spectrum Films has played host to international productions such as The Railway Man, The Water Diviner, The Matrix, The Great Gatsby, Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead, Sacred Heart and many other titles, including, most recently, a compelling documentary that aired in 2015 called Deadline Gallipoli: The Full Story. The documentary illustrates how Spectrum Films relied fully on SGO Mistika's open architecture, speed and versatility. The entire project was post-produced in Mistika including the online, color grading, titling and deliverables.

Cognition Installs Six Mistika Systems

Cognition, the recently launched hybrid post-production facility, has purchased six Mistika systems from SGO. The package includes two top-end 4K color grading and mastering systems, two assist workstations and two laptop systems for on-set and near-set use. The company has also acquired an SGO high-speed SAN. The installation is part of a multi-million dollar facility expansion that will include a pair of DCI grading theaters, expanded visual effects resources and creative production workspace.
