CJ 4DPlex together with Universal Pictures, announced that Fast X, the new chapter in the global blockbuster Fast & Furious Saga, in theaters this Friday, May 19, will debut in the 270-degree panoramic ScreenX format. This is the first time a Universal Studios' film from the Fast & Furious franchise will premiere in the visually immersive theatres.
Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will debut on February 17 in the visually immersive formats from CJ 4Dplex including 270-degree panoramic ScreenX theatres and the multi-sensory 4DX theatres. The film is the official kick off for phase five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and tickets for the anticipated adventure are on sale now.
Coldplay has announced a special live broadcast of the band’s Music of The Spheres World Tour from Buenos Aires’ River Plate Stadium. The worldwide live event will be shown in thousands of cinemas across more than 70 countries on October 28-29 in partnership with Trafalgar Releasing, who also executive produced with CJ 4DPlex.
Launched in 2014 by the Korean producer of premium film formats and cinema technologies, CJ4DPlex, ScreenX is the world's first digital multi-projection theatre technology to enable a 270-degree panoramic movie watching experience. ScreenX uses a proprietary system to expand specially selected sequences of a film onto the left and right-side walls of an auditorium, surrounding the audience with exclusive imagery that makes them feel as if they’re inside the movie, creating a truly immersive experience. In the beginning, exhibitors, especially in the United States, were slow to embrace the new technology. In part, that was because so many were pre-occupied with the challenge of simply converting from film to digital projection and, in part, because CJ4DPlex was a new brand to them. But growing success in Korea and hard work by a lot of people paid off. In 2018, the ScreenX technology proved its worth at the worldwide box-office, with the successful panoramic release of Marvel Studios' Black Panther.
The official trailer to the movie Monsta X: The Dreaming has just been released. The film will open next month in more than 70 countries, Trafalgar Releasing is distributing the CJ 4DPlex production of the movie Monsta X: The Dreaming, featuring the global K-Pop and pop group Monsta X.
Kitag Cinemas, the largest exhibitor in German-speaking Switzerland, is installing CJ 4DPlex’s 4DX cinema seating in its theatre in Abaton Zurich. Kitag Cinemas has 85 screens and 17,000 seats at the following locations: Basel, Bern, Biel, Lucerne, Emmenbrück/LU, St. Gallen, Abtwil/SG, Winterthur and Zurich. The Zurich theatre has 12 auditoriums with a total of 1,759 seats. The 4DX screen is scheduled to open before the end of the year.
CJ 4DPlex today announced that Kinepolis is set to open four 4DX theatres by the end of the year. Kinepolis will open 4DX theatres at its cinemas in Antwerp and Brussels (Belgium), Lomme (France) and Madrid (Spain). The first film that Kinepolis will show in 4DX is still to be confirmed.
ScreenX, the world’s first multi-projection system that provides a 270-degree panoramic film viewing experience within a theatre setting, has announced that Twentieth Century Fox’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle will be available in the immersive format. In addition to opening in ScreenX, the film will be made available for bookings on nearly 400 4DX screens in 49 countries around the world.
The Fate of the Furious is the most watched 4DX film of 2017, and is expected to surpass the 1.5 million-attendance mark. The box office success was driven by the best opening week performance in 4DX history, reaching 760,000 moviegoers – 31 percent more than the first week attendance for 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens (580,000) in 2015.
