Encore Uses Global Post Workflow for Fox’s 24: Live Another Day

Encore uses a global post workflow for the on-site dailies and post-production services for all 12 episodes of the Fox series 24: Live Another Day. Shot in London, Encore's local office manages the dailies workflow and then pipes footage back to Encore Hollywood for online editing, coloring and finishing.

Experienced freelance colorist and online editor Ian Grey was responsible for the stylish 2D color grading for Globe on Screen's three titles for Shakespeare’s Globe’s 2014 theatre season. The plays include three of the playwright's most popular and well-known works: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth and The Tempest, which were recently released through the Arts Alliance Media. Grey did the grading on a Mistika. Mastering and deliverables, including conversion for cinema, were completed at BTV Post by its digital media services department.

Super Star Power Productions Brings Post Home

Super Star Power Productions in Los Angeles is a combination post-production facility and theater that offers a seamless 4K pipeline from review of uncompressed 4K image files taken directly from 4K cameras, through color grading at 4K, to a Qube XP-I server and Xi IMB and projected via Barco's new DP4K-P post-production projector. Hollywood producers and directors of feature films will now be able to review 4K images, color grade at 4K in real time and generate 4K digital cinema packages for final quality control, all from a single 4K projector in a home-like setting.

The $4 million Wonders of the Arctic 3D natural world epic marks Science North's fifth IMAX production in conjunction with Lickley and Chicago’s Giant Screen Films. The 42-minute film, which focuses on the effects of climate change to the Arctic environment and the impact on humans and animals, such as the resilient Inuit peoples and Polar bears that reside there, has been distributed in more than 100 theatres around the world.

Technicolor-PostWorks New York did the post on Noah.Technicolor-PostWorks New York marked its third collaboration with Darren Aronofsky in providing post-production services for Noah, the director’s epic inspired by the story of Noah in the Old Testament. The facility provided everything from 35mm film processing to editorial conforming and final color grading.

The Academy Award-winning Sony Pictures Imageworks crafted over 1000 visual effects shots, Sony Pictures Post Production provided sound – its first project in in Dolby Atmos – and Colorworks performed film scanning, conforming and color grading all in 4K.

New Spectracal Software Said to Reduce Monitor Correction Time

SpectraCal announced today what the company says is a major technological advance in the process used to correct the color performance of professional reference monitors. Called Dynamic Linearity Correction (DLC), the new software algorithms added to SpectraCal’s CalMAN Studio software help enable the widespread adoption of monitor correction with three-dimensional look-up tables.

SGO Mistika Now Supports Dolby Vision Technology

SGO today announced that its flagship color grading and finishing platform, Mistika, now supports Dolby Vision technology, enabling the display of high dynamic range images with wider color gamut capabilities. SGO, working in close collaboration with Dolby, will look to make the Dolby Vision workflow capabilities available in Mistika from version 8.2, which was previewed at NAB and is due for release shortly after IBC 2014.
