Miraj Cinemas, which says it is India’s fastest-growing and third-largest national multiplex chain, has opened its latest four-screen multiplex at Shalin Square, Ahmedabad, the city’s premier business hub. The new theatre brings Miraj Cinemas’ presence in Gujarat to a total of six properties and 26 screens across the state.

Multiplex operator PVR Inox recently signed a joint venture agreement with Devyani International, which runs quick-service restaurants like KFC and Pizza Hut. Devyani will own 51 percent of the joint venture, with PVR Inox holding the remaining 49 percent stake.

The Malayalam film industry recently suffered a major setback when PVR Inox pulled Malayalam films from the screens across the country. Even other film industries like Telugu, which had bought the dubbing rights for Malayalam films, suffered losses as the films were abruptly withdrawn.
Miraj Cinemas, which says it is India’s third largest and fastest-growing national multiplex chain, has formed a partnership to upgrade its screens with Harkness’ Clarus XC screen technology.
