Blackmagic Design Introduces Ursa at NAB 2014

At the National Association of Broadcasters show earlier this month in Las Vegas Blackmagic Design introduced Blackmagic Ursa, a high-end digital film camera the company says is “designed to revolutionize workflow on set.” Built to handle the ergonomics of large film crews as well as single person use, Ursa has multiple accessories built in, including a massive 10 inch fold out on set monitor, large user upgradable Super 35 global shutter 4K image sensor and internal dual Raw and Apple ProRes recorders.

A versatile documentary-style camera that combines exceptional image quality and affordable CFast 2.0 workflows, the Amira has an ergonomic design optimized for single-operator use and extended shoulder-mounted operation. AJA Video Systems Unveils the Cion Camera at NAB 2014

In what was arguably the hit of the event, AJA Video Systems unveiled the Cion camera at the National Association of Broadcasters show earlier this month in Las Vegas. The totally new camera features an ergonomic design and is capable of shooting at 4K/UltraHD and 2K/HD resolutions. AJA pioneered lens-to-post Apple ProRes workflows with the introduction of the Ki Pro product line in 2009 and Cion builds on this achievement by offering in-camera recording directly to the Apple ProRes family of codecs - including 12-bit 444 - for pristine image capture.

Codex Unveils the Action Cam

Codex has announced Codex Action Cam, an ultra-compact, all-in-one, digital cinema camera and recording package for 2D and stereoscopic 3D production. The camera is designed for use as a supplement to larger camera systems on commercials, TV and movie productions as a companion camera when regular camera packages are too large for the situation or location in which the production is trying to shoot. The new camera will be on display at the National Association of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas April 7.
