SMPTE Hollywood to Host Panel Discussion about New ATSC Standard

Miller is being honored for a career noteworthy for its incredibly broad scope and consistent excellence. The Australian writer, director and producer is responsible for some of the most successful and beloved films of recent decades including Mad Max, Mad Max 2: Road Warrior, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and Mad Max: Fury Road.

SMPTE, MESA Collaborate on Language Metadata Table

In collaboration with the Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers is bringing the media industry's first human- and machine-readable Language Metadata Table into its public review process, an early step toward SMPTE standardization. Published as a SMPTE Public Committee Draft, the vetted and approved list of language codes will be readily available for public comment, implementation, and validation.

Lynette Duensing Named CSI Fellow

Duensing is being recognized for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the craft of color across a highly productive career spanning more than 30 years. Writers Lab for Women over 40 Open for Registration

The Writers Lab is asking for submissions for its 2021 program for women screenwriters over the age of 40. The Lab is produced by co-founders Elizabeth Kaiden and Nitza Wilon and New York Women in Film & Television, and has been supported by Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and Oprah Winfrey. The Lab will see the emergence of its first completed project in 2021: Alyson Richards’ horror film The Retreat.

HPA Explores How Love Island USA Producers Coped with COVID

The Hollywood Professional Association Industry Recovery Task Force will explore how CBS/ITV Entertainment’s Love Island USA moved from Fiji to Las Vegas and kept their exacting production and delivery schedule intact in the midst of the Coronavirus upheaval, late in 2020. HPA’s Virtual Town Hall, the latest in the series produced by the Industry Recovery Task Force, will take place on February 10 from 11:00 a.m to 12:30 p.m. PDT.
