A New Day for The Twilight Theatre

A Kansas town devastated by a major tornado in 2007 has rebuilt its historic theatre, lighting up its giant screen with a digital cinema projector donated by Christie. The projector illuminates the 58-foot-wide screen of the Twilight Theatre and Community Auditorium in Greensburg, Kansas, which is part of Kiowa County – about 100 miles west of Wichita. The theatre celebrated its grand reopening the weekend of April 24 with a red carpet-style opening night, featuring live music and a free screening of the 1985 hit movie, Back to the Future. The celebration continued over the weekend with family friendly activities and movies.

SMPTE and HPA Issue Call for Entries for Student Film Festival

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and the Hollywood Professional Alliance have issued a call for entries for the SMPTE-HPA Student Film Festival. The film festival will be held during the SMPTE 2015 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition, October 26-29 in Hollywood, California.

Dolby Vision to Launch with Disney’s Tomorrowland, Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out

Dolby Laboratories and The Walt Disney Studios today announced that Disney’s Tomorrowland, in theatres May 22 and Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out, in theatres June 19, 2015, will be the first Dolby Vision titles to be shown at Dolby Cinema locations around the globe. In addition, Disney’s The Jungle Book, which was due out April 15, is also being presented in Dolby Vision, with more titles to be announced.
