In a project spanning many months and two continents, Modern VideoFilm provided final post-production services for Broken Horses, the new Western thriller from Indian producer/director Vidhu Vinod Chopra in his Hollywood debut. The Burbank-based facility provided editorial conforming, color grading, visual effects production and integration, DCP mastering and deliverables for the film, which makes its U.S. theatrical premiere this month from Reliance Entertainment.
Post-production companies of all sizes rely on Signiant’s file transfer software to move their large digital assets quickly and securely between teams distributed around the world, and Modern VideoFilm’s latest work takes the scale and reach of distributed finishing to new levels.
Modern VideoFilm recently wrapped up a seven-year run as a post-production services provider for FX’s hugely popular series Sons of Anarchy. The Burbank-based facility set up a file-based pipeline for the show, about a motorcycle club based in Northern California, integrating editorial finishing, visual effects, color grading and deliverables. Despite a tight schedule and complex VFX and grading requirements, Modern efficiently delivered a stellar product each week of the show’s long run.
Continuing its support for quality independent films, Modern VideoFilm provided post-production services for The Invitation in advance of its world premiere at this month’s SXSW Film Festival. The facility’s role comprised editorial conforming, final color grading, technical support and deliverables, the latter including a Digital Cinema Package master for the festival screening.
Modern VideoFilm has appointed Julie Currin as vice president of sales/feature film. Currin will lead a new effort to grow Modern’s share of the post-production market for motion pictures and enhance its relationships with major studios, independent producers and filmmakers. Her background includes more than 15 years in senior sales and marketing roles, including posts with Deluxe, Laser Pacific and Technicolor.
Finishing services for Fox Searchlight Pictures’ The Grand Budapest Hotel, currently nominated for nine Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director (Wes Anderson), were provided by Burbank-based Modern VideoFilm.
Final post-production work for 20th Century Fox’s and Reel FX Animation Studios’ The Book of Life, a Golden Globe nominee for Best Animated Feature Film, was completed at Modern VideoFilm.
