Access:VFX an industry-led non-profit coalition of leading visual effects, animation and games studios, has launched its European chapter. With the help of new sponsorship from Netflix, the organization is building upon its mission to promote diversity within the VFX industry by expanding into Europe. The aim of the new chapter is to provide practical tools for up-and-coming creators across Europe that are essential to succeed in the industry, including mock interviews, reel reviews, virtual events, and e-mentorships.

Adobe Frame.io Now Built Into Red, Fujifilm Cameras

Adobe announced today that its cloud-based video-collaboration capabilities for its Frame.io division will be built directly into cameras from Red and Fujifilm. The company calls this the purest expression yet of a decade’s worth of efforts to create camera-to-cloud integrations that connect production units with the remote teams that subsequently work on the resulting video and stills.

First Global Stage Hollywood Film Festival Begins October 28

With the support from Consulate General of Japan – Los Angeles, the inaugural edition of the Global Stage Hollywood Film Festival will be at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood October 28-29. The opening film will be Poupelle of Chimney Town which has been recognized with several awards, including a Japan Academy Film Prize for Excellent Animation of the Year, a Cristal Award nomination from Annecy for Best Feature, an Annie awards nomination for Best Music – Feature, and a Satoshi Kon Award nomination from Fantasia for Best Animated Feature.

HPA Announces Nominees for 2022 Creative Awards

The Hollywood Professional Association Awards Committee has announced nominees for the 2022 HPA Awards creative categories. Recognized as the standard bearer for creative accomplishment and technical innovation, the HPA Awards honor outstanding achievement and artistic excellence by both individuals and teams. This year’s categories have been expanded to include Outstanding Color Grading, Editing, and Sound for Documentary/Nonfiction and Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects.
