The National Association of Theatre Owners will honor John D. Loeks, chairman of Studio C, with the 2019 NATO Marquee Award during this year’s CinemaCon, according to the conference’s managing director Mitch Neuhauser. CinemaCon, the official convention of NATO, will be held April 1-4, 2019 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Éclair today announced the appointment of Marie-Laure Barrau to the newly created position of sales director for its activities in France and Belgium effective immediately. She is responsible for managing the sales teams across Éclair’s business divisions (Digital Applications, Digital Distribution, Theatrical Delivery, Preservation, Post-Production, Restoration and Versioning & Accessibility) in both countries.
Former Sony Pictures Entertainment senior executive Jonathan Gordon has joined SoundFi as executive vice president, head of global operations and business development. Gordon will be part of SoundFi’s senior management team and will work closely with founder/CEO Chris Anastas, president – entertainment division Tracy Falco, and COO/CFO Bill Kehoe. He will be responsible for leading global strategy as well as relations with studios, exhibitors, and other vital partners and industry stakeholders, as the company prepares for its next stage of growth.
Industry veteran Rod Archer has joined QSC Cinema as product manager. In his new role, Archer will be primarily responsible for product strategy and execution for Q-SYS for Cinema, Cinema Media Server, Control and Accessibility Product categories. Archer brings a rich career of product development experience, with more than 30 years of executive product development roles.
The Motion Picture Sound Editors have named supervising sound editor Stephen H. Flick as recipient of the association’s 2018 MPSE Career Achievement Award.
Sound Lounge is expanding its film and television division, which provides sound editorial, ADR and mixing services for episodic television, features and documentaries. The studio is upgrading the division’s main mix stage to support editing and mixing in the immersive Dolby Atmos format. It has also added veteran supervising sound editor, designer and re-recording mixer Evan Benjamin to its team. Benjamin is best known for his work in documentaries, including the acclaimed feature documentary, RBG, about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as well as documentary series for Netflix, Paramount Network, HBO, and PBS.
New York Women in Film & Television has named Cynthia López, an Emmy, Peabody and duPont-Columbia Award-winning media strategist, and former commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, as its new executive director. López will succeed Terry Lawler, who concludes a remarkable 21-year tenure, effective January 1. NYWIFT president, Simone Pero made the announcement on behalf of the organization’s 18-member board of directors.
