Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to Release Blu-ray Titles with Dolby Atmos

Dolby Laboratories and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced a collaboration to release SPHE titles in Dolby Atmos over the coming years, including SPHE’s first films to be released in the 4K Ultra HD disc format. The first films to be released in the new 4K Ultra HD disc format with Dolby Atmos include The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Salt, Hancock, Chappie, Pineapple Express, and The Smurfs 2 in early 2016, with additional titles to be announced throughout 2016 and beyond.

Part of the third annual Grand Park + Music Center’s N.Y.E.L.A., the breathtaking spectacle of morphing light, color, shape and sound will envelop—and sometimes appear to bounce between—the facades of City Hall, the County Hall of Records and The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and celebrate Los Angeles as it joins other cities around the globe in ringing in the New Year.

ScreenX Debuts in U.S. with The Himalayas

ScreenX, one of the world’s first multi-projection systems that allow theatergoers to go beyond the frame of the movie screen by extending the images onto the theater walls, is making its official U.S. premiere on January 1. The first public availability of ScreenX in the U.S. will be rolled out at CGV Cinemas Los Angeles. Fans will have the opportunity to screen The Himalayas, the film that is topping Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the South Korean box office.
