Korea Lotte Cinemas Shows FIFA World Cup Live in 3D in 52 Theatres

Korea Lotte Cinemas presented the FIFA World Cup match between Korea and Argentina live in 3D to 52 of its theatres. The company has announced that more matches will also be presented live at its theatres.   “We are very pleased to have chosen GDC servers because other than their impressive reliability the speedy software upgrade to enable live 3D telecast has saved us much time and costly new hardware acquisition needed ” said Edward Muk Choi technical manager of Lotte Cinemas. “The GDC solution has also greatly reduced the hardware complexity.

Rooftop Films Presents Flood Tide July 7th

On July 7th Rooftop Films Socrates Sculpture Park and Museum of the Moving Image will present Flood Tide director Todd Chandler’s movie about a ramshackle river raft journey in the midst of ongoing economic and ecological collapse. It was the summer the gas stations closed. The summer they played music in the old mill. The summer they built a boat. The summer they left. Flood Tide is a road movie on a river. Technicolor 3D Gains Studio Support

Technicolor has announced that it has secured support from five motion picture studios for the international release of theatrical content in the Technicolor 3D format.  The studios include: DreamWorks Animation Universal Pictures Paramount Pictures The Weinstein Company and Warner Bros.  The first international release in Technicolor 3D will be Shrek Forever After from DreamWorks Animation in Germany.  Other countries included in the international launch of Technicolor 3D are the United Kingdom Spain Italy and Japan.     To date Technicolor says it has installed its film-based 3D s

Warner Premiere has announced development of a live-action digital series based on the critically acclaimed Alloy Entertainment book series The Clique written by Lisi Harrison. The Clique will be available through online digital retailers and is being distributed by Warner Bros. Kodak Adds to Vision3 Line of Film Stock

Documenting the Great Los Angeles River Clean Up

Filmmaker Kathy Kolla president of Cola Kat Productions of Beverly Hills California recently shot a short-form documentary about the great Los Angeles River clean up also known as “La Gran Limpieza.” The Los Angeles River Project (working title) will be shown on the festival circuit especially at many of the environmentally themed film festivals that are gaining in popularity and impact in the U.S. and internationally. 
  The documentary was independently produced by Cola Kat to raise awareness about trash in the river and how much of it eventually winds up in ocean waters.

Galaxy Cinemas Brockville Upgrades to 3D

Cineplex Entertainment upgraded Galaxy Cinemas Brockville Ontario with 3D. The theatre has been equipped with a Christie Solaria 2K series projector and RealD 3D technology. With the addition of RealD audiences will be able to enjoy an incredibly immersive 3D experience with the great line-up of 3D movies scheduled to be released this year.” Toy Story 3 was the theatre’s first 3D presentation.
