Ymagis Group and French multiplex chain Megarama today announced the installation of Barco DP4K-60L 4K laser projection systems and Dolby Atmos sound technology in three new multiplexes: in France, at the Megarama Bordeaux, and at Morocco’s Megarama Casablanca and Megarama Marrakech. A similar agreement was signed last November for Megarama’s Villeneuve-La-Garenne site near Paris.
The Berlin International Film Festival is entering a new era of projection, as Barco’s Flagship Laser projector will screen a selection of movies at this year’s festival. For this 66th edition, Barco set up a Flagship Laser DP4K-60L projector at the Friedrichstadt-Palast venue, Europe’s biggest show theater with1,895 seats. Barco is expanding its portfolio of laser-illuminated cinema projectors with a range of laser phosphor projectors. The new projectors have a laser phosphor retrofit module, so that exhibitors who already own a Barco cinema projector can now also benefit from laser technology. The DP2K-20CLP and DP2K-15CLP are the first two models and will be shipping globally in the second quarter 2016.
