SMPTE, ETC Seek Standards for On-Set Virtual Production

SMPTE, the home of media professionals, technologists, and engineers, is partnering with the University of California’s Entertainment Technology Center to develop a SMPTE solution for on-set virtual production — the first in the Society's planned series of Rapid Industry Solutions intended to address quickly evolving technologies and their application across the media and entertainment industry.

The organizers of the 2022 HPA Tech Retreat have released a statement regarding the safety protocols that are being put in place to ensure the health and safety of attendees. “Our first priority for planning the Tech Retreat is safety,” the statement read. “We have been planning carefully and leaning on expert advice to ensure the event is safe and comfortable for everyone.”

ECA Adds Mathe and Correia to Board of Directors

The Event Cinema Association has named two people to its board of directors. They are Katrin Mathe, international event cinema manager for Kinepolis and Laura Correia, vice president film & event cinema, National Amusements. The additions firmly cement the renewed direction for the ECA in 2022, the ten-year anniversary since the association was established. The appointments are part of a particular drive to increase the organization’s visibility, which was started by Grainne Peat, who became ECA’s managing director in 2018.

Senior Post in Brooklyn is PNYA’s Newest Member Company

The Post New York Alliance has announced that Senior Post in Brooklyn is the group’s newest company member. Founded in 2012 by Josh Senior and Joanna Naugle, Senior Post is the largest editorial house in Brooklyn with 17 offline suites. It also provides dailies, editorial finishing, color grading and deliverables, while serving clients including Netflix, HBO, FX, Hulu, and Disney+.

Cinema Technology Community Announces 2021 Award Winners
