In a webcast on Tuesday the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers updated its work on the Interoperable Master Format. Annie Chang, vice president of post-production technology, the Walt Disney Studios, gave the hour-long presentation, which was entitled Interoperable Master Format (IMF) - Application 2 and Beyond.
Six Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers members have been recognized with top awards — including two Oscars — from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Academy's Scientific and Technical Awards honor the men, women, and companies whose discoveries and innovations have contributed in significant, outstanding, and lasting ways to motion pictures.
The Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers association was the recipient of the esteemed Philo T. Farnsworth Award by the Television Academy at the 66th Primetime Emmy Engineering Awards Ceremony. At the same time, SMPTE Life Fellow Larry Thorpe received the Charles F. Jenkins Lifetime Achievement Award.
