ÉclairColor Demoed in Hollywood

Representatives from the European digital cinema technology and services company Ymagis Group returned to Hollywood last week to give private demos of their ÉclairColor process at the Harmony Gold theatre on Sunset Boulevard. Presenting side-by-side clips from last year’s release The Neon Demon, they showed high dynamic range images with high contrast, deep blacks, excellent highlight detail and vibrant colors.

Rising Sun Expands VFX Training Program

Responding to demand from aspiring visual effects artists from across Australia and beyond, Rising Sun Pictures is expanding its visual effects educational program, operated in partnership with the University of South Australia. RSP will now offer a Graduate Certificate in Dynamic Effects and Lighting, modeled after its successful Graduate Certificate in Composting and Tracking. It is also adding to its menu of short courses covering 3D modeling, compositing and other subjects.

Reel Cinemas Installing Dolby Atmos

Emaar Entertainment subsidiary Reel Cinemas is installing Dolby Atmos immersive audio across its entire theatre chain in the Middle East. Reel Cinemas will deploy Dolby’s latest SLS loudspeaker, including the new SLS 3-Axis Speaker MA390C, making it the first to install the system across an entire cinema circuit. The installation will be one of the largest rollouts of Dolby Atmos screens by any multiplex chain in the Middle East and will include featuring the Dolby Atmos experience at the outlet at The Dubai Mall.

Production Increasing in Abu Dhabi

Continuing its momentum of attracting regional and international productions, Abu Dhabi Film Commission has secured a new Indian production for which the capital will serve as the second filming location for two weeks. The upcoming Telgu feature film, Duvvada Jagannadham (also known as DJ), is written and directed by Harish Shankar and will shoot in various locations across the Emirate including the Abu Dhabi Global Market, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, Intercontinental Hotel, Yas Links Golf Club and Galleria Mall, with access to twofour54’s production services.
