Visualization house Proof provided extensive pre vis and post vis services to the new Marvel Entertainment motion picture Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Proof’s creative director/founder Ron Frankel made the announcement. The film was released by Walt Disney Studios last month and shows the benefits of using pre and post vis on a major effects-heavy film.

Screenvision Cinema Ad Push Targets Millennials

At its annual upfront event April 2 at New York’s Ziegfeld Theater, cinema advertising company Screenvision outlined its Weekend Daypart concept, calling it “a high impact and essential complement to TV advertising plans.” Additional presentations in Chicago, Los Angeles and Detroit were to take place today. Citing a high awareness of cinema advertising among 18-49 years olds – so-called millennials – one executive said, “When you run an ad on a big screen you know it will be seen.”

The Dark Place tells the story of Keegan Dark, who has the uncanny ability to remember his life in videographic detail. Both a blessing and a curse, Dark uncovers a conspiracy that frames him for murder, threatens his inheritance, and endangers his family’s lives and livelihood. When director Jody Wheeler began shopping for a post-house to complete his feature film The Dark Place, he chose AlphaDogs because he had been told of their excellent reputation in working with independent filmmakers.

Codex Supports Captain America, Other Summer Movies

Marvel Studios used Codex recording technology to streamline the capture-to-post workflow on several high-profile productions, the most recent of these being Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Cinematographer Trent Opaloch chose to frame the action in a widescreen anamorphic format, captured by Arri Alexa Plus cameras shooting ArriRaw with a 4:3 sensor and Codex Onboard S recorders.

Cinedigm Acquires Nacho Vigalondo’s Open Windows

Cinedigm has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Open Windows, directed by Nacho Vigalondo (Time Crimes, ABC’s of Death) and starring Elijah Wood (Maniac, Lord of the Rings, Cooties, Grand Piano, The Hobbit) and Sasha Grey (Would You Rather, The Girlfriend Experience, I Melt with You). The film had its world premiere earlier this month at SXSW. Cinedigm plans a theatrical release in late summer or early fall.
