NEC Display Solutions Europe today launched the NC1000C, its second-generation digital cinema projector using NSH lamp technology, offering an enhanced cinema experience at theatres with smaller screens or small projection booths. The company says the new projector is compact, silent in operation and matches the specific demands of mobile cinema applications and theatres without dedicated projection booths.
Ymagis Group completed work on director Kleber Mendonça Filho’s Aquarius, the first feature-length film entirely remastered using EclairColor digital color technology. Screened in competition at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, Acquarius is scheduled for release in cinemas across France on Wednesday.
ArcLight Cinemas has unveiled a massive video wall in the lobby of its Sherman Oaks theatre in Los Angeles. Called the ArcLight StoryWall, the nearly 50-foot wide feature was installed and is being managed by Cinema Scene Marketing.
National Amusements and Barco have established a strategic partnership to convert all Showcase XPlus auditoriums to Flagship Laser projection. As part of the agreement, National will install Barco’s Flagship Laser projectors in all of its premium large format Showcase XPlus auditoriums beginning with six of its top theater sites in the Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey areas. In the future, all XPlus auditoriums will feature Barco’s Flagship Laser projection technology.
In what could be the first real breakthrough in event cinema, TimePlay will provide its proprietary mobile platform to support The Vista Project student film competition. The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers is a key partner in The Vista Project. TimePlay’s globally patented IP, allows moviegoers to control how stories unfold on the cinema screen in real-time. The deadline for submissions to the contest has been extended to November 15.
CityPride Multiplexes, Maharashtra, India, has deployed a complete Harman cinema audio system in its multiplex cinema. The new system features the Lexicon QLI-32 QuantumLogic Immersion processor, JBL loudspeakers and Crown DSi power amplifiers.

Megabox has installed a Barco flagship DP4K-60L laser projector in its new full premium auditorium. Megabox, one of the leading multiplexes operating 550 screens in the Republic of Korea, is opening the first premium auditorium in Starfield Hanam — the largest shopping mall complex in the country. The auditorium also includes a 22-meter wide Harkness Clarus silver screen.
The creators of Godzilla are unleashing their newest monster Shin Godzilla on 60 Carmike Cinemas locations next month. The Japanese sci-fi flick, co-directed by anime superstar Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (Attack on Titan), is set for a limited one-week release starting October 11.
European cinema exhibitor services specialist CinemaNext and Eclair, leader in content services for the motion picture and television industries, will jointly present EclairColor digital color technology at the upcoming Fédération Nationale des Cinémas Français convention September 27-29 in Deauville, France.
