Dolby Laboratories, Vudu, and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment have announced the first slate of titles now available in ultra high definition with Dolby Vision high dynamic range imaging. Dolby Vision titles now available for purchase and rental on Vudu include the all-new release The Huntsman: Winter’s War, and fan favorites Lucy, Oblivion, and Lone Survivor.

In response to what they say has been impressive guest reaction and the overwhelming success of Dolby Cinema at AMC in its first full year, Dolby Laboratories and AMC Theatres today announced plans to accelerate Dolby Cinema at AMC installations to 100 operational sites by the end of 2017, seven years ahead of the originally announced schedule. The original agreement, reached in 2015, was for 100 auditoriums over a 10-year deployment.
Canadian media and content company Corus has purchased a turnkey Quantel Rio 4K editing, color, and finishing system with a Neo control panel, enabling the company to build a 4K HDR post-production workflow into its operations. This is the fifth Quantel Rio system purchased by Corus, and its first in a 4K configuration.
Wanda Pictures and Dolby Laboratories today announced that Wanda Pictures’ feature For A Few Bullets will be released for Dolby Cinema locations in China on July 15, making it the first Chinese local language movie mastered in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

The collaboration tool provides quality control features including, on screen drawing, file checking templates, timeline annotations and shares messages securely and instantly with key stakeholders.
Barco today announced that it has acquired MTT Innovation Inc., based in Vancouver, Canada. MTT is a developer of projection technology with expertise in high dynamic range, applied imaging algorithms, advanced color science and specialized hardware development.
Roundabout Entertainment has extended its high dynamic range mastering services by upgrading its DaVinci Resolve systems with the latest software release from Black Magic Design, version 12.5. The new software includes improved HDR grading controls that add to the facility’s ability to finish, grade and deliver theatrical, television and home entertainment projects in HDR. It also adds new tools for editing, visual effects and noise reduction.
