Supercines, the largest cinema operator in Ecuador, today announced that it has selected Volfoni as their exclusive provider for their 3D technology requirements. Vivendi’s CanalOlympia has signed an agreement to roll-out Vista Cinema’s Veezi cinema management system across all their cinema venues. Currently operating nine venues across seven countries, CanalOlympia is the leading network of cinema and live performance venues in Africa. Several additional sites are set to open in the months to come, extending the breadth of the CanalOlympia footprint.The CanalOlympia operation showcases the diversity of African culture and has helped bring cinemas back to countries currently short on entertainment choices and cultural infrastructure.
Shin Kong Cinemas, a member of the Shin Kong Group, one of Taiwan’s leading financial, retail, and entertainment groups has selected Arts Alliance Media’s Screenwriter Theatre Management System to provide automated scheduling and content management for every screen in SKC’s estate across Taiwan. The deal marks AAM’s first entry into the Taiwan market.
Cineplex and CJ 4DPlex today announced a new agreement that will bring the 4DX experience to as many as 13 additional Cineplex locations across Canada over the coming years. The companies opened Canada’s first 4D auditorium at Cineplex Cinemas Yonge-Dundas and VIP in the heart of downtown Toronto, Ontario, in 2016, and its popularity with guests has prompted this new partnership and investment.
IMAX Corporation and Wanying Cinema Line, a subsidiary of China Resources Land, one of China's largest state-owned commercial developers, today announced an agreement for 14 new IMAX theatres. The theatres will feature IMAX with Laser and are expected to open between 2018 and 2021. This agreement brings the total number of contracted IMAX theatres in Greater China to more than 900.
Dar Al Arkan has signed an agreement with Majid Al Futtaim to open a new 15-screen multiplex at Dar Al Arkan’s Al Qasr Mall in Riyadh. The multiplex is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2019 and will include Vox Cinemas’ signature Kids and Max experiences.
Cinemark is installing Unique X software across all of the 4,566 screens in its U.S. enterprise. This includes Unique X’s RosettaBridge Theatre Management System, RosettaNet eTMS network management system and Smart Trailering, the centralized trailer scheduling and delivery system.
When it came time earlier this year for the owners of the Moviehouse & Eatery theatre chain to open their fifth complex, they turned once again to systems integrators Entertainment Supply & Technologies. ES&T has been a supply partner for Moviehouse & Eatery since the chain launched in 2012. “We have enjoyed a very productive working relationship with this client in the past,” said Barney Bailey, president and CEO of ES&T, “but this was an even more exciting and challenging project because it is first time we installed a complete Christie digital projection and Vive sound system package for a customer.”
