Movie has appointed Dr. Bryan Smith as the company's chief data scientist. A computational scientist with research and management experience, Smith most recently was research group manager, information & communications technologies at Callaghan Innovation, the New Zealand government agency, which commercializes technical innovation of New Zealand companies. The announcement was made by Will Palmer, Movio’s chief executive and co-founder.

JT Cinema Centralizes Entire Chain with AAM Producer

Leading Dutch exhibitor JT Cinema is set to centralize all its operations with Arts Alliance Media’s Producer enterprise content management system. The agreement, which covers 102 screens across the Netherlands, will see all of JT Cinema’s sites connected to Producer at head office. From one central instance at head office, JT will be able to monitor and manage all content, KDMs, advertising and trailer pre-show, and reporting across 20 sites.

Galaxy Theatres Net $10 Million in Online Ticket Sales

Leading cinema operator, Galaxy Theatres has netted a record $10 million in ticket sales from its online platform in the past year. The theatre operator with locations in California, Nevada, Texas, Washington and Iowa, has reported consistently high returns from investment in its web presence; online revenue has doubled every year for the last four years at a time when overall box office sales has slowed in the US.

AMC, Movio Partner to Target Movie Marketing

Vista Confirms US Acquisition of Ticketsoft

New Zealand based cinema software and analytics company, Vista Group International has acquired Ticketsoft. Founded in 2001 and based in Dallas, Texas, Ticketsoft’s cinema management software systems are used by more than 200 cinemas across North America, representing more than 2,000 cinema screens. Both large chain and independent cinema exhibitors use Ticketsoft’s software for their point of sale, ticketing, loyalty, management and analysis, and corporate office systems.
