GDC Technology Limited announced today that SF Corporation Public Company Limited, Thailand’s premier cinema chain, has launched the country's first movie theatre equipped with DTS Surround Cinema sound systems in all halls. The new SF Cinema Lotus Yala is now open in Yala’s city center.
Another DTS Surround Cinema sound system will be installed soon at SF Cinema Robinson Lifestyle Chanthaburi.
All halls are enabled by GDC’s AIB-3000 16-channel cinema audio processor, featuring DTS Surround Cinema with enhanced bass management. DTS (digital theatre systems) is renowned for its high-quality surround sound used in both cinemas and home theatre systems. DTS technology delivers clearer, more dynamic surround sound effects, enhancing the overall audio experience for movie-goers.
The AIB-3000 is a standalone 5.1/7.1/15.1 cinema audio processor that is compatible with all major DCI servers. It features new technology for the enhanced bass management. This technology creates a surround sound experience by precisely redirecting low frequencies from the surround channels to dedicated left and right bass management subwoofers. By compensating for the inherent limitations of surround speakers in reproducing deep bass tones, it ensures smooth and seamless audio performance.
The DTS Surround Cinema is a certified auditorium distinguished by its innovative DTS Surround audio processor and advanced tuning practices, adopting the DTS Target Curve. To achieve auditorium certification as a "DTS Surround Cinema," the speaker layout, including full-range surrounds, must adhere to rigorous DTS Surround cinema installation guidelines for optimal audio performance. Theatres using the built-in DTS Surround audio processor and certified DTS Surround Cinemas can playback SMPTE and interop standard digital cinema packages with 5.1/7.1 surround audio tracks.
SF Cinema Lotus Yala is a new entertainment venue and the inaugural SF Group location in Yala's center. It unveils a distinctive spot for locals, called Hollywood City, designed to emulate a cinematic environment. The facility comprises three halls with a total of 521 seats, offering an upgraded viewing experience. Customers can enjoy exceptional sound in each hall, equipped with the DTS Surround Cinema sound system along with premium seating options like Prime and Suite seats, establishing it as one of the most cutting-edge movie theatres in the country.
SF Cinema Robinson Lifestyle Chanthaburi is located in the city center of Chanthaburi Province. It is currently undergoing renovations and will soon become the first cinema in Eastern Thailand and the second in the country to feature the DTS Surround Cinema sound system. The facility is set to open in December 2024.
