German Theatres Embrace EclairColor

CinemaNext has announced that it has equipped 25 screens in 13 cinemas across Germany with EclairColor technology. In conjunction with these installations, Ymagis Group’s content services arm, Eclair, has overseen the EclairColor mastering of the film The Lost City of Z, which opens in cinemas in Germany March 30. The film from critically acclaimed director James Gray is distributed by StudioCanal in both Germany and France.

For more than a decade, theatre management software has been the backbone of every cinema that made the transition to digital projection technology, which is to say, virtually every movie theatre in the world. Many different manufacturers provide their own approach to the challenges that TMS was designed to address. I recently spoke with five TMS manufacturers and asked if they thought exhibitors were getting the most from their TMS, where their TMS fits in a movie theatre enterprise and, most of all, what new ideas in TMS can we expect to see when the industry gathers in Las Vegas next week for CinemaCon 2017. CinemaNext today announced the launch of Sphera, its new premium format cinema concept, designed to deliver a superior movie going experience and content flexibility for cinema operators and theatre owners. CinemaNext will introduce Sphera next week during CinemaCon 2017 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

NCM Adds Screens to Network

National CineMedia has strengthened its network with the addition of five new affiliate partners, adding 71 new theaters, 533 screens and approximately 20 million attendees to its national theater network, enabling it to better compete in the broader premium video marketplace. The newest theatres in the NCM network include: Bow Tie Cinemas, Cinergy Entertainment Group, Main Street Theatres, Megaplex Theatres, and MJR Digital Cinemas.

Vista Hosts Biennial Customer Conference

More than 200 cinema professionals from around the world gathered in Auckland, New Zealand last week for the eighth biennial Vista Customer Conference. The conference was the largest yet that Vista has held. Vista Group, provider of cinema management, film distribution and customer analytics technology to studios, distributors, exhibitors, and moviegoers, provided updates on current and future product developments.
