Southern Theatres has completed its second all Christie entertainment complex, at the new Southern Theatres Movie Tavern 8 in Covington, Louisiana. The eight-screen cinema eatery has Christie Solaria Series projectors and Christie Vive Audio cinema systems.
Christie, through a generous donation of equipment and installation services, will be the sole provider of all cinematic and audio equipment within the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts Eileen Norris Theatre, and will be working together with USC SCA in enhancing visual technologies, specifically cinematic ones.

Kundo: Age of the Rampant will be mixed and released in the Dolby Atmos cinema sound format. Filmmakers use Dolby Atmos to place and move sounds anywhere in the movie theatre, including overhead, to make film audiences feel as if they are inside the movie and not merely watching it.

The West End triple Olivier Award winning production of Ghosts – the third title in the West End Theatre Series – was shot in high definition by Digital Theatre and will be distributed in UK theatres on June 26. Distributed by CinemaLive, Ghosts will be the first live event cinema production captured in the Dolby Atmos sound format. Village Cinemas, one of the leading multiplex operators in Australia, has installed Dolby Atmos technology at two of the VMAX cinema auditoriums at Crown Casino, Melbourne. Invited guests will be among the first to experience the sound technology at the iconic VMAX cinema auditoriums at a special preview screening of Edge of Tomorrow, the new action film from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, which opens in Australia on June 5th.
The Maheshwari Theatre in Bangalore, India has installed Barco Auro 11.1 sound technology. The new sound system will be unveiled at a press conference May 23. The 1,000-seat theater is the second screen in the region to upgrade its sound system to Auro 11.1; the Manasa Theatre upgraded its sound last July.
