Christie’s principal product developer, Mike Perkins, has been awarded the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Award in Scientific and Engineering, along with three other recipients, for his work on the design and development of the Christie E3LH projection system, developed in partnership with Dolby Laboratories. The International Cinema Technology Association has announced the winners of its third annual North America Cinema Awards, presented in partnership with Celluloid Junkie.
Four awards will be presented by the Association of Moving Image Archivists at its annual meeting organization to individuals and organizations who have demonstrated exceptional work in the areas of preservation. The awards will be presented during AMIA’s online meeting December 18.
The Motion Picture Sound Editors will honor supervising sound editor/sound designer Dane A. Davis, MPSE with its 2024 Career Achievement Award. Davis is known for his Oscar winning work on The Matrix, and for his creative contributions to that film’s sequels and scores of other films and television shows. He will receive the award at the 71st Annual Golden Reel Awards March 3, 2024, at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles.
The National Association of Theatre Owners will honor Chris Johnson, CEO of Classic Cinemas, with the 2024 NATO Marquee Award during next year’s CinemaCon, Mitch Neuhauser, managing director of CinemaCon, announced today. CinemaCon, the official convention of NATO, will be held April 8-11, 2024, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
