Kinepolis to Receive 2024 CineEurope Milestone Award
The Kinepolis Group NV, the Belgian company operating 109 cinemas and 1,131 screens worldwide, has been named as the 2024 recipient of the CineEurope Milestone Award, given in recognition of its outstanding accomplishments within European cinema exhibition. The Award will be presented as part of the CineEurope Awards Ceremony on June 20 at the Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain.

GSCA Chooses Sigma Cine Prime as Benchmark Lens
The Giant Screen Cinema Association has selected the Sigma 65mm T1.5 FF Cine Prime as its benchmark cine lens. The results of the camera assessment test were unveiled during the Filmmakers Symposium portion of the GSCA Film Expo, which was held March 11-13 at the AMC Citywalk Imax Theater and Universal City Hilton.
SMPTE Announces Call for Technical Papers
SMPTE, the home of media professionals, technologists, and engineers, has announced its call for technical papers for the SMPTE 2024 Media Technology Summit. The Summit will be held Oct. 21-24 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, California. Abstracts should fall within the range of 300 to 400 words and will be accepted now through May 30.
Colorist Society Launches Canadian Chapter
The Colorist Society International has launched a chapter in Canada. Led by Abe Wynen, CSI, senior colorist at Redlab, Toronto, and Eric Whipp, CSI, co-founder and head of Color at Alter Ego, Toronto, the chapter is open to colorists across Canada working in film, television, advertising, and other media.
Motion Picture Sound Editors Announce Golden Reel Award Winners
The Motion Picture Sound Editors have announced the winners of the 71st Annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards. Dane A. Davis, MPSE received the MPSE Career Achievement Award. Michael Dinner was presented with the MPSE Filmmaker Award.
SOC Names Camera Operators of the Year Winners
The Society of Camera Operators has announced the recipients of Camera Operator of the Year in Film and Television. Juanjo Sánchez, SOC and Manuel Branáa took home the title of Camera Operator of the Year in Film for their work on Society of the Snow.
