The Japanese film Your Name has made the official Oscar consideration list in the Best Animated Feature category. The film will be vying for one of five nomination spots in its category that will be voted on for the 89th annual Academy Awards. Funimation Films acquired North American distributions rights to Your Name earlier this year from Toho Co. in Japan
On the heels of this week’s limited theatrical engagement of The Empire of Corpses, Funimation Films has announced that advance tickets are now available for the movie Harmony, the second in the series of three animated films adapted from Project Itoh's novels. The film, produced by award-winning Studio 4°C, is co-directed by the duo of Michael Arias and Takashi Nakamura. Presented in both Japanese with English subtitles and English dub versions, Harmony will screen in more than 60 theaters across the United States on May 17 and 18.
Funimation Entertainment will release acclaimed director Mamoru Hosoda’s The Boy and The Beast will open on March 4 and screen in theaters across the U.S. Theatergoers will be able to purchase tickets to watch either the original Japanese language version (with English subtitles), the new English dub version produced by Funimation, or both.
Funimation Entertainment has announced the North American theatrical dates for the release of Ghost in The Shell: The New Movie. This is the first movie in more than ten years for the Ghost in The Shell sci-fi franchise, which will screen in more than 330 theaters across the United States and Canada on November 10, 11 and 16.
