CinemaNext has appointed Araceli Vaello vice president of its solutions business unit. In her new role, Vaello will lead the solutions team and drive the development and implementation of innovative CinemaNext-branded solutions to meet the evolving needs of our cinema customers.
James Babiarz has joined 11 Dollar Bill as executive producer at its home studio in Chicago. A 12-year industry veteran with deep ties to the Chicago advertising community, Babiarz will oversee current projects, direct sales, recruit talent and pursue opportunities for growth. He spent the previous six years at The Mill, Chicago, where he recently produced work for NHL, U.S Army, Jeep, and Frito-Lay.
The Motion Picture Sound Editors have announced the winners of the 71st Annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards. Dane A. Davis, MPSE received the MPSE Career Achievement Award. Michael Dinner was presented with the MPSE Filmmaker Award.

Amy Poehler will receive this year’s CinemaCon Vanguard Award, Mitch Neuhauser, managing director of CinemaCon, announced today. CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners, will be held April 8-11 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Genius: MLK/X traces their journeys from their formative years through their rise to prominence, as they each shaped a legacy that remains vitally important. Trevor Forrest, the lead director of photography for MLK/X, worked closely with Panavision to select an equipment package based around Panavised Arri Alexa 35 cameras and Primo spherical lenses, with modified Anamorphic Flare Attachments used for key moments.
The Society of Camera Operators has announced the recipients of Camera Operator of the Year in Film and Television. Juanjo Sánchez, SOC and Manuel Branáa took home the title of Camera Operator of the Year in Film for their work on Society of the Snow.
11 Dollar Bill has hired ad industry veteran Jamie Slade as executive producer at its Boulder studio. Slade, whose background includes serving as senior producer with Crispin Porter + Bogusky, will oversee production and head sales for the post-production studio, which specializes in creative design, editing and finishing for advertising, branded content, and other media.
Jeanette and Tony Levine, the founders of Spotlight Cinema Advertising in Perth, Australia, are retiring and turning over the business to media professional Erin Pitchers.
