Continuing their mission to advance the art of cinematography by inspiring and educating the next generation of filmmakers, the American Society of Cinematographers has announced the nominees for the 2016 ASC Haskell Wexler Student Documentary Award and the Vilmos Zsigmond Student Heritage Award for Undergraduates and Graduates.
Deluxe Entertainment's Method Studios has hired supervising art director and head of art department Olivier Pron, commercials VFX supervisor and creative director Jesse Bradstreet, commercials VFX supervisor James Rogers, animation supervisors Daryl Sawchuk and Tim Ranck, and VFX supervisor Gong Myung Lee. They will be based in Los Angeles and New York.
Submissions for AFI Awards 2016 are now being accepted online at AFI.com until 5:00 p.m. PT on October 20 for television and 5:00 p.m. PT on October 27 for film. Honorees will be announced on December 8, 2016, with an invitation-only luncheon to follow on January 6, 2017.
For the third consecutive year Rodeo FX has won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects on HBO’s Game of Thrones. The VFX studio won the award for its work on Battle of the Bastards, the ninth and perhaps most memorable episode in Season 6.
