Ymagis Group has acquired Berlin-based Christa Kistner Synchronproduktion, one of Germany’s leading dubbing companies for the cinema and television industries. Under the terms of the agreement, Ymagis SA, through one of its wholly owned German subsidiaries, becomes the sole shareholder of Christa Kistner Synchronproduktion. Christa Kistner remains in her functions as its managing director.
Scott Farr is one of the busiest and most sought after production sound mixers in Southern California. So he’s quite familiar with the rigors of carrying his audio kit over a long day of work.“The trick”, he explains “is how to best carry the weight in the front, and distribute it evenly so you don’t tear up your back, while keeping your shoulders free. The Board of Governors of the American Society of Cinematographers has elected Kees Van Oostrum to serve as president of the organization. This is Oostrum’s first term, which will run for one year, beginning immediately. The ASC Board also selected its slate of officers. They include: Bill Bennett, Dean Cundey and Lowell Peterson as vice presidents; Levi Isaacs as treasurer; Fred Goodich as secretary; and Roberto Schaefer as sergeant-at-arms.
Hybrid digital production studio Cognition has hired Eileen Godoy as executive producer. Godoy will manage film and television projects through the processes of editorial finishing, color grading and deliverables. She will collaborate with sales and play a role in setting strategy and planning growth.

Panasonic has announced a free firmware upgrade for its VariCam 35 4K and VariCam HS camera/recorders that expands recording options and enables several operational and workflow improvements. This multifaceted upgrade was developed based on the practical requirements and input of cinematographers, DITs, rental and post houses and other VariCam partners.
