Ymagis Group will showcase EclairColor HDR cinema technology at the upcoming Fédération Nationale des Cinémas Français convention in Deauville, France. Two special presentations will take place at the Centre International de Deauville’s Michel d’Ornano Auditorium on September 26 and 27. Technical presentations of the technology will be also held. The EclairColor presentations will be open to all FNCF convention delegates
DTS will reach the 100th theatrical title exhibited in its DTS:X immersive audio with the September 15 release of Lionsgate’s American Assassin, directed by Michael Cuesta and starring Michael Keaton, Taylor Kitsch and Dylan O’Brien.
B&B Theatres has signed an agreement to install DTS:X immersive audio powered by GDC servers at six locations this year and six in 2018, with the remaining locations to be rolled out in late 2018/early 2019. As a licensee of the DTS:X object-based immersive sound technology for the development of GDC immersive sound media servers, GDC will be leading the effort. With this agreement, B&B Theatres will become the largest U.S. movie theatre circuit to exhibit content released with a DTS:X soundtrack.
Ymagis Group has appointed Jean Firome has been appointed chief financial officer, replacing Rémi Gérard, who left the group this summer for personal reasons. Philippe Lefebvre joins the group as vice president procurement. Benoit Schils is the group’s new quality director.

CJ 4DPlex today announced that its 4DX technology is now available in 400 theatres around the world. The opening of its 400th location makes 4DX the fastest-growing premium cinema format, having reached this milestone in seven-and-a-half years following its debut in 2009. Australia’s Showbiz Cinemas has chosen the Christie CP2208-LP 3DLP laser phosphor cinema projectors to be deployed in all auditoriums. Located in the new Delacombe Town Centre complex in Ballarat, Victoria, the contemporary 530-seat cinema complex comprises six screens and features luxury seats, surround sound and wall-to-wall screens, with the largest screen in Cinema 1 hall measuring 10 meters wide. The cinema opened August 31.
Volfoni Limited launched an upgrade program designed to provide a path from legacy 3D cinema hardware systems from other manufacturers to the latest-generation 3D cinema hardware systems from Volfoni. The manufacturers included in the program are MasterImage, Dolby and XpanD. The program recognizes the past investments that customers have made, and provides incentives to let them easily and affordably replace outdated 3D systems.
