Beginning with direct to theatres distribution in Latin American countries, the UK, and Ireland, and also partnering with distributors around the world to meet the growing demand for Sound of Freedom, Angel Studios is launching the movie in new markets and additional languages.
“Since Sound of Freedom launched in the US, demand has been building around the world in dozens of regions and languages,” said Jared Geesey, senior vice president of global distribution for Angel Studios. “Child trafficking is a global issue, and we hope to build on the incredible momentum here in the states and share the film’s powerful message worldwide.”
More countries are being added weekly.
After its fourth weekend, the film is screening in 3,411 theatres, and is crossing the total booking threshold of more than 4,000 screens. Angel Studios is projecting nearly $150 million total cumulative box office revenue through Sunday, with a strong $12,409,300 million box office draw.
“Everyone in the industry knows that films are generally supposed to lose screens week-over-week, not add them,” said Brandon Purdie, Angel Studios head of theatrical. “And yet, the incredible word-of-mouth driving Sound of Freedom continues to spread. In response, we are continuing to expand our offering. Our theatrical partners have stepped up in a huge way to allow for more people to see the film.”
Sound of Freedom, based on the incredible true story, shines a light on even the darkest of places. After rescuing a young boy from ruthless child traffickers, a federal agent learns the boy’s sister is still captive and decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save her. With time running out, he quits his job and journeys deep into the Colombian jungle, putting his life on the line to free her from a fate worse than death.
