With the addition of 13 new exhibitor partners, MetaMedia, which says it is the world’s first cloud-based platform for delivering movies, live events, targeted advertising, and other premium content to cinemas, now features 30 exhibitor partners across nearly 800 cinema locations, including cinemas from four of the top five largest U.S. cinema chains. In recent weeks, the MetaMedia platform has also securely, efficiently, and cost-effectively delivered more than 500 feature films to cinemas from major and independent studios as well as numerous live content events.
MetaMedia’s newest exhibitor partners include Classic Cinemas, CW Theaters, D’ Place Entertainment, Epic Theatres, Galaxy Theatres, IPIC Theaters, Look Cinemas, MJR Theatres, National Amusements, Regency Theatres, Southeast Cinemas and Xscape Theatres, among others.
“We are proud to welcome all of our new cinema partners into the MetaMedia network,” said MetaMedia founder and CEO Jason Brenek. “Our singular mission is to provide our cinema and studio partners with the most innovative, flexible, efficient and cost-effective content delivery platform, which will enable more big screen entertainment to propel our industry forward. MetaMedia’s platform also empowers our exhibitor partners to access and create their own content. It also enables studio and content producers to create more dynamic fan-based events, which separates communal theatrical experiences from solitarily watching at home.”
The company says that MetaMedia’s cloud-based network lowers the traditional cost and time for cinemas to access big screen content. The platform also offers clients the flexibility to deliver live or recorded content nationwide to an exclusive circuit or to a desired target location, audience, or demographic group.
This capability enables exhibitors, studios, and content owners to optimize their per-screen box office revenue by targeting audience segments based on demographics, geographic location and other interests or characteristics.
Some examples of this over the last three months include:
To commemorate the Chinese Lunar New Year, producer Global Asian Media Entertainment engaged MetaMedia to deliver Global Asian Fest 2024, a weeklong cinema event that highlighted exceptional Asian films. MetaMedia‘s platform delivered the event to communities in markets across North America with a high concentration of Chinese consumers.
Michigan-based Emagine Entertainment, a long-time MetaMedia partner, approached MetaMedia to deliver the horror movie, Thorns, directed by Michigan filmmaker Doug Schulze, as well as the delivery of a live premiere in Emagine’s Royal Oak theatre. For the film’s release, film distributor Dark Planet Releasing chose MetaMedia to target and deliver to Emagine and other cinemas in zip codes with large horror film fan bases across the U.S.
Legion M, which partners with top independent filmmakers and Hollywood studios to produce crowdfunded movies and Falling Forward Films selected MetaMedia to deliver a live, ticketed fan event for the biopic You Can Call Me Bill that included a live Q&A session with William Shatner to more than 300 cinemas across the U.S., as well as delivering the New York City and Los Angeles premiere for Legion M’s legion of investors.
A number of MetaMedia’s exhibitor partners have created their own curated programming, including specialty and themed event programs. For example, multiple cinema chains have utilized MetaMedia’s platform to rapidly and cost effectively deliver film repertory packages from major Hollywood studios. MetaMedia has also been called upon by its cinema partners to deliver live professional and eSports events that were acquired and marketed directly by these cinema chains.
