Leading cinema exhibitor Golden Screen Cinemas will showcase a local production as the first-ever Malaysian movie on Imax screens at selected cinemas nationwide.
The film, Malbatt: Misi Bakara has been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of the Imax Experience with the proprietary Imax digital re-mastering process, complete with images from Imax’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio.
Based on true historical events of the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia, Malbatt: Misi Bakara tells the untold yet inspiring story of the Malaysian Battalion, unsung heroes who prevailed in times of courage to rescue American soldiers that were trapped following the Black Hawk Down attack.
“Golden Screen Cinemas has played a pivotal role in driving the local film industry through investing in homegrown film productions and providing movie-enthusiasts with enhanced cinematic experiences,” said Golden Screen’s CEO Mei Lee. “Showcasing Mallbatt: Misi Bakara as the first locally produced movie remastered in Imax is a milestone for Golden Screen Cinemas and reiterates our commitment in elevating the local film landscape.”
An action-packed tale of war and fast-paced scenes, Malbatt: Misi Bakara is a movie not to be missed in Imax, offering movie-goers with a greater, more immersive cinematic experience. Taking action movies to the next level, Imax’s seamless audio and visual clarity reimagines the war-torn landscape and evokes powerful emotions to life on the big screen.
“The release of Malbatt: Misi Bakara re-mastered on Imax is a visionary dream come true on the silver screen,” said the film’s director, Adrian Teh. “It is a new milestone for a local movie. I’m thrilled for the audience to be able to enjoy this movie at the best possible format we can provide.”
